Zach Bjorklund

Artist Bio

Computer engineer by day, orchestral producer by night, and founding artist of ChampionDreamerMusic.com, a brand devoted to not only the next generation of film and game production music, but the mentorship of new artists as well. Zach Bjorklund hails from Lewiston, Idaho where he grew up the only child of a heavily musical family. His father, a vinyl record fan, played classical in the morning, rock and country at lunch, and jazz in the evening, almost every day. His mother, aunt, and cousins all could sing well and did so in church, at home, and wherever they went. From 2005 to 2009, Zach trained weekly with world-class concert pianist and conductor Dr. Michael Zearott at his Nova Music Studio in Clarkston, Washington. In 2009, the young junior high artist’s interest was arrested by jazz theory, which he studied under the direction of Tom Schumacher. For this period of time he dabbled in the world of electronic and funk under the artist name “Astrorobics.” His biggest influences at that time were ambient artists Aes Dana and Asura, founders of the French electronica label, Ultimae Records. Daft Punk’s work on Tron: Legacy blew him away in 2010 as well. In 2012, local producer David Tucker became Zach’s mentor for a period of time which really inspired Zach towards technical prowess and excellence in production. In 2014, Zach moved to Moscow to pursue a degree in computer engineering at the University of Idaho, which eventually led to deep understanding of digital audio as an added bonus. Today Zach blends his classical past with his high tech future to deliver tracks on the cutting edge of the epic and soundtrack genres.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

More ideas than I know what to do with or have time to produce :P

What is your music dream?

Not sure yet. That's the fun of it.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

The epic music community would have an LA convention. :) JK, the world has hundreds of bigger problems. This question is as old as the planet. Lol

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

On the Sunny Side of the Street

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Uppermost, Aes Dana, Asura, Solar Fields, Sync24, Electric Universe, Eric Prydz, Megadrive, Dance With the Dead, Pogo, Stephen, Bibio, Lambert, Vulfpeck, Claudio, Mark Petrie, Ivan Torrent, Two Steps From Hell, Hans Zimmer

What inspires you to make music?

Weird sounds, picturing an entire world or landscape in detail, running/working out, incredible stories about reality and the resilience of human life, against all odds.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Use your imagination.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

It's been a long time.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Everybody is making music. This is good because it makes music better, more alive, more of an experiment, and faster to mix up ideas. The reality is most people won't make a living with it, instead it's all about making something for the sake of it, which is why I keep doing it. Life is too short to spend any more time NOT doing what you were put on this earth to do, whether it be music or anything else. I really don't know what could be improved but maybe if everybody stopped worrying about money when it comes to music, we'd all just listen to what we like and music would never stagnate into boring categories but that's not going to happen.

What do you think of Drooble?

Impressive. Feature loaded. Surprised I never heard of it sooner.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Prioritizing projects.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Hometown: no not really. There's everything besides the music I like where I'm from sadly.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

The ability to be in multiple places at the same time... haha
