My history

I had one band in 1973 in Eugene Oregon that was opening for country rock bands like Poco and Pure Prarrie League. I named the band Crooked Finger after a river in the area. I and my partner were the band leaders and song writers. He Od'd and died in my arms. I moved to Fla and played a few gigs as soloist. In 1978 I decided to go full time performing at hotels as a lounge act playing mostly acoustic covers like James Taylor, Neil Young (with harmonica) Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens etc.a few years went by and I decided to add Moog bass /synthesizer pedals , a Korg 55 drum rhythm box and key boards (a natural since I grew up playing a Hammond organ with bass pedals) This allowed me to expand my genres of music to band songs from the 50's bebop dance numbers to Country Rock / Southern Rock band sings like Allman Bros, Eagles, Poco, etc to Progressive Rock like Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Emerson Lake & Palmer..and just about everything in between. I got to the point where I could play 5 instruments at once on some songs, playing one handed electric guitar , with keyboard fill in accents, bass pedals, foot actuated drum synth, and harmonica with a neck brace. This was in 1980 in the days before there was preprogrammed backing tracks, so I had the edge over other soloists and often got gigs where 3-5 piece bands played and I made more money. I also had over 2000 songs in my request list that bar customers could request from. With that I would get people up on stage and let them pick a song from my request list and I would back them up, much like karaoke today (before we had ever heard of karaoke) I also began writing in college in 1972 and continued to write my own songs on occasion and still write to this day. In 1985 I aquired my first porta studio (analog) and began recording my own original songs mixing and mastering them on cassette tape format. I never have advanced to the digital format so all my recordings are old school style. In my later years i learned graphic arts , became a webmaster and eventually learned how to make slideshow videos with my own originals recorded live and with my porta studio mulitracking. For the past 3 years I have been recording live videos of just me and my guitar and harmonica on a simple Sony Handycam and uploading them to facebook and youtube. The Sony gives surprisingly good results if listened to with earbuds or headphones. My only disappointment these days is that many people have gotten lazy about hos they listen to music -on cell phones and laptops, ipads etc with no headphones..and the sound quality is terrible compared to the days we listened to music thru giant speakers with surround sound. So I encourage eveyone to at least use headphons or ear buds when listening to music..it makes a world of diifference..think about al the work artists put into producing music ...only to be deliniated by crappy sound produced by cell phones etc Thannks for listening !
