Eternal Tragedy

ETERNAL TRAGEDY's brief bio

Eternal Tragedy is the project/band of the Italian technical death metal guitarist/composer Stefania Ponzilacqua. Eternal Tragedy released 2 demos and an eight tracks full album, Forever. Forever, together with several live shows, opening for great acts such as Ragnarok and Nervo Chaos, made possible for Stefania to be endorsed by Schecter guitars. The project/band had several line up changes and now the guitarist is looking for death metal musicians in Athens, Greece. At the moment the artist is writing a new album.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is one of the purest communication tools ever existed, together with all other forms of art, such as painting, sculpture...it allows me to explore the inner side of my soul and to reflect it outside. Music is my way to communicate with others without words.

What is your music dream?

Music is a dream itself. My music dream woud be to spread as much as possible my music, I guess.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I would change everything, from Alfa to Omega, starting out with laws pro musicians !!

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Many songs were important to me in my childhood, really many. I choose Extreme Aggression, from German thrashers Kreator, just to mention one song, 'cause in reality are many more!

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Well, my project/band Eternal Tragedy is definitely my favourite. Eternal Tragedy is a combination of all the artists that inspired me and that I respect.

What inspires you to make music?

Everyday's life, people, difficult situations, choices...

What is the message you want to send with your music?

I want to tell people: be yourself, do what you feel to do and do it right. Be your own creator for your destiny, do not force yourselves to do something you really do not want to do. Be true to your soul.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I feel complete. A good show is not done by the performing artist. A good performance is the synergy between the artists and the crowd, this create the magic, this should be the perfect performance. And all this makes me feel complete. Artist and crowd together make the show.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

The situation nowadays is really dramatic. Too many wannabes, and very little resources for real musicians. But it is not only this. People think that making music is not a real job, and they are right: it is way more difficult, but not recognized like an "office" job. Impossible so, to improve the situation, because there is not a situation to improve. First we should create a situation that can be improved.

What do you think of Drooble?

Drooble is fantastic. I believe it is a very useful tool to get musicians to know each other. It is done by people for people, it is not a server eating money out like many other services out there. Drooble is very intelligent and I really love it, easy to use, a real platform for musicians. Amazing!!

What frustrates you most as a musician?

I have two answers for this question in this period: lack of a serious line up and lack of a solid economic situation. It is frustrating, music is maybe one of the most expensive job existing to do. No one is going to support you financially, you have to do everything alone, nobody is willing to help anyone and there are no institutions out there ready to give money to musicians to actually do their music. If there is someone willing to give money to musicians to practice, or to record, or to buy gear, be sure that this person is not doing all that for love for music, but to have something in return...

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I just moved to another country.I moved to Athens, Greece. I still have to explore the reality here, but when I can I gladly go to gigs. I also share web pages, bands' pages or events, when and if it is possible to do so. I do what I can, like everybody I guess.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

A musician has to be a real person in first place, indipendently from the fact of reaching out a larger audience. People have to identify themselves inside and with the artist. A musician has to be proud and humble at the same time. Yes, I think that musicians to reach a larger audience have just to be simple and true to themselves, not only good musicians or, worst, wannabes/posers...

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

I like a musician friend of mine, from Russia, he makes black metal/doom/ambient kind of music, really relaxing. His project's name is Akem Mainyu. If you like more energetic stuff, I can advice you another band where the guitarist is a friend of mine, Devangelis, pretty good.
