Presley Lawson

Story

Presley is a Central Florida native with deep roots in music, she wins hearts and turns heads everywhere she plays. Growing up, she spent much of her youth immersed in music on the road alongside national recording artists watching and listening to their performances. At the age of 12 Presley’s musical journey began with her first spotlight performance singing the National Anthem for the Houston Astros. Presley is influenced by music legends such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carole King, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, and Garth Brooks. She is inspired by music artists like R5, Ed Sheeran, Allie Colleen and Shawn Mendes. Presley has her own unique style and vocals, melding the pop and country genre blending them into her own sound. Growing up in today’s society poses its own unique set of challenges, having a spotlight put on you at a young age also creates a target for the mean girls’ club. Through her music, Presley is excited to touch the heart of others and spread happiness with her songs. Suffering from social anxiety, she lets her music become her therapy to interact with her fans. Consistently engaging with new fans daily and meeting them at her events helps breakdown the barriers of her social anxiety. Presley continues to grow her music catalog, writing among some of Nashville’s brightest stars. She has attended songwriters retreats and is a songwriting member of both BMI and ISSA. Presley has released her first single and is currently working on her first album.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is the world to me; A world of healing, A world of peace, A world of tranquility. It gives me a purpose, meaning and peace.

What is your music dream?

To jam with my influences and to touch one person at a time with my music.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Hate, I would eliminate all hatred. My mantra is "Kindness Over Everything". That is why I have the lotus in my logo, my guitar is named Karma.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Any Hannah Montana song, I absolutely loved that show as a little girl.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

The Driver Era, the reason I picked up a guitar is because of R5 who later became "The Driver Era" and now Riker Lynch is starting up "Riker and the Beachcombers". Next in line, you can see them in my writing and playing styles is Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes.

What inspires you to make music?

Life, just the general love for life and the people around me.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

You are not alone, in any struggle or fight you are going through in life. "I See You" and there is always someone somewhere that has suffered or is suffering the same thing, never think that you are alone.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Frightened and scared, but exhilarated at the same time. Once it is over, my emotions are so heightened that I want to do it again and again.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Struggling. I meet so many talented people, it seems that it is just a lot of luck and networking, being at the right place at the right time. Or just knowing that someone who knows someone who gives you that break. Like everything, if you could eliminate corporate greed and the people that just want to feed off of others, that would be a perfect world for musicians.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far so good, I'm just starting on the platform... stay tuned!

What frustrates you most as a musician?

All of the business stuff behind everything and the saturation of all the different music platforms to keep up with.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I do, I go to as many shows as I can and I stay active on pages to show my fellow artist my support. And I always collaborate where I can.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

An IT background and be a SEO master to figure out all the algorithms. Or start off with lots of money.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

The Driver Era, Riker and the Beachcombers, Allie Colleen, Kelli Johnson, Carly Rogers, Joe and Martina.
