I, Norrii (Norman Cabenda), started playing music at the age of about 12. Trying to learn acoustic guitar and being really bad at singing, got a few chords down and later got much better and started playing electric guitar. At the same time I followed classical piano lessons for about five years and got bored of it and stopped. At about 16 years old I started writing songs, singing and playing guitar, and continued to do that up to now and onwards. Inspirational artists for me are people like Damien Rice, Ed Sheeran, Sting ... and lots of other people. Mainly indie-type music and it can vary a lot. I don't know what else to write but ask if you wanna know anything I guess for now :3 !!
Good music gives me good feelings and music gives a lot of life to life (you get what I mean if you get it). And music is my way of telling about things or expressing things that I feel like I can't talk about very easily or express otherwise.
My dream, music wise, is to have people hear my music. I feel like my songs - contrasted to much of the modern pop music- at least have something more to LISTEN to in the lyrics for one thing. I don't expect or need to be very popular or anything but I want to play for people and I want people who love music and have a feeling for it to share that feeling with, if that makes sense.
I wouldn't change the world, since I think it is great the way it is. There are huge "flaws" in it and things that, objectively speaking, are wrong. But that is how it is and I feel no reason to change that, personally.
The most memorable song from my childhood? This one is difficult. I will have to give this some time...A lot of time.
My favorite artists include metal bands called Trivium and Katatonia, but also bands like Now, Now, Two Door Cinema Club, Of Monsters And Men. None of these really reflect the way my songs sound very much but I do get inspired by aspects of their work too.
My biggest inspiration to write things down and turn them into musical sounds is the fact that it makes explaining and expressing things a lot easier for me. Emotions and thoughts aren't just put into words, but also into rhythm and melody and feeling when you turn it into music.
I have no one particular message that my music needs to send. Most of my songs are usually just my at-the-moment thoughts or my mindset put on paper and song. The only thing I hope is that if you like my music, it adds a bit of something to your day, moment or life and makes it a bit better maybe. If that counts as a message that is it.
When performing I feel nervous...pretty much that. But also a type of great feeling adrenaline rush that I really like. Depends on how the audience reacts of course. And I have very little experience performing anyway.
I don't have much experience with Drooble yet but I think so far it might be a great place for interacting and sharing with other musicians and like-minded people. And it could create great opportunities for many people.
Recording....... and forgetting lyrics to songs.
