MELVIS FRESHLEY

Recording and Performing Artist/Sound Engineer

Melvis Freshley was born in Port Arthur and raised by his aunt, soon after his mother was tragically murdered, prior to his very first birthday. Growing up, as he would frequently hear her playing music around the house particularly during house parties, his love for music began. He started writing poetry and at the age of fourteen, his brother observed his unique ability and encouraged him to start writing raps. Melvis Freshley began taking rap serious and created the rap group “Nutty Block”, named after the six hundred block of Eighth Street, where he hustled at. While working on both a solo and group project, he was arrested for violation of probation and sentenced to eight years in the state penitentiary. After serving his time, Melvis Freshley is refocused, rededicated and more determined than ever.
