Asylum Junkie is a son named Hy-Jek and a father named BooSen. Together their family, friends, and a hip hop group living near Portland, OR. The two have shared music since Hy-Jek was a baby, and BooSen was a lot younger and thinner. Their relationship has always been close even when they didn't live that close to each other. Whether it was sports, movies, shoes, or just having good conversations. They always had things in common and did things together, but music, music was different. BooSen has been an independent artist for over 20yrs, and Hy-Jek was right there growing up in the studio while his dad was making records. BooSen did shows all over the place. When Hy-Jek got old enough to be on any stage he got the opportunity to show off some of his own skill whether it was with his dad or doing solo shows back in Ohio. Hy-Jek has been a roadie and a hype man not only for BooSen, but also for groups that his dad was in and he did that for years. It got to the point where Hy-Jek was the only one BooSen used as a hype man. BooSen would use his set to not only entertain the crowd, but show off his sons skills as an MC. After Hy-Jek officially moved to Oregon, the father/son team wrote and recorded for two years. After getting their feet wet with some lives shows it really sealed the deal that they had something special. Something different and fun. No labels, do what you feel like doing. Write to whatever you want to write to. Record and release it for the rest of the world to hear.
Music is our emotions and the story behind them. Music is our oldest and closest friend. It has given us everythingvwe have needed to survive. It's our crazy brain!
To play shows around the world. Nothing huge 500-2000 people. All gathered to just enjoy music and each others company. Would love to do a tour across America, but would love it even more across Europe or Asia.
Understanding. An understanding in humanity.

Everybody in every genre.
Life!
It really depends because of how music bends our mentality. Sometimes the rhythm makes us want to dance and other times it makes us want to preach. Sometimes we don't want to make any sense.
Alive!!!
Well right now with Covid it's hard to think about. As far as improving? Communication is always a key, but with artists it's always hard to do. LOL
So far we like it.
When people tell you it's not work. That your just hanging out with your friends. SMH
Yes, by going to shows, buying merch and music.
Who are we to say what qualities a musician should have. We've met a lot, and their qualities were all over the place.
We don't know who you've heard or not. LOL We'll tell you this, we absolutely love Storm Large. She is one of our favorite singers. We remember first seeing her in a dive bar in Portland and now she tours the world. Amazing artist! Other than her....How about ASYLUM JUNKIE???!!!
