Mark B Rogers

Story

Beginning with the release of Speed Demon, Mark started introducing the public to his music. Dug Pinnick of King's X, and Zeke Brown of King's Ransom, both graciously provided their talents to the song on bass and lead guitar respectively. Mark followed up with the release of the Lifeless Touch four-song EP. He acts as a one-man band in many respects by taking care of all writing, performance of all instruments and vocals (except where indicated otherwise), recording, mixing and mastering. This is in addition to his work behind-the-scenes in a variety of events and roles in the local area. "Last Song" was released shortly after the death of his mother, and then came one of his more recent releases "Bruised and Broken", aside from various covers.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Whatever good or bad mood you may be in, one of the greater things in life is having someone who understands and empathizes with you. Music is our method of describing how we feel. Sometimes even without using words.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

It used to be that only a small group of artists were promoted by select few record labels. Nowadays, the floodgates have been opened where many artists can record and promote themselves. This is both good and bad, in that any artists' music can become viral but also it is harder to be heard amongst the sea of other artists trying to accomplish the same thing.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

If I knew that, I'd be heard by a larger audience. Ha! I think it partially has to do with a do-it-yourself attitude, because there are many things that need to be done including the songwriting, recording, legal, performance, and marketing. And of course, having people empathize with whatever emotion your song is trying to convey.
