LaBomba

Story

Looking back it took me (and us) 7 years to find the right members for the LaBomba idea that I had. A trio is the most exciting thing to do, but.....it fits and clicks...or it does not. With these guys (Maroen and Dave) we did not know each other up front, went into a studio and within 5 minutes we knew. THIS fits, rocks, sounds great and fits like a glove. Also our 3 vocals made a great sounding harmony fronm the start. Besides that writing songs seems to go easy all the time. No matter who comes with the ideas or grooves first.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

A way of live. Always present.

What is your music dream?

Sharing our music and making people connect.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Teach the world that profit is no measure for succes. Helping and sharing with people is.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Anything from The Kinks in their early days.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Triggerfinger, Muse, Led Zep, Prince, Rammstein.

What inspires you to make music?

It's in me and the band. We have to do it and to create something together every time is addictive.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Be who you are and let the other be who they are.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Natural and "in the zone".

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

First... get a real paying job for your expenses. Second...make music because you want to and enjoy every second. Third. Declare streaming services dead for new bands/music. It does not pay you as it should and those models earn the platforms and bigger record companies money. Not you. Thats 10 % of the piramid. Don't feed the top 10 %.

What do you think of Drooble?

Nice tools in there. The effect is too early to tell.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The faxt that we (musicians) keep saying yes to slave like fee's for playing.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

We try to do as much double bill gigs as possible. Teaming up with other bands and if we are headliner we always want a local band to open up for us. You have to make your miles on stage.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Work hard. On one hand treat your music as a business and on the other make sure you are having fun. In general also be realistic. Play for you own family, local pubs, city etc. first. The long way Always lasts longer. And.....understand that the bigger you get, the more people want to eat from your back. You make them money...they are happy. If they (record companies, promotors, bookers, roadies etc.) cannot make money from you.....the circus stops.
