Kevin Haynes Alto Saxophonist percussionist composer, African folklore singer Kevin Started his musical career in the eighty’s and ninety’s performing as mainly as a percussionist with such as the Jazz warriors big band, saxophonist Steve Williamson band flutist Phil Bent band. Afro American Jazz drummer the great Clifford Javis his prophets of Jazz The Coutney Pine Band The Dickheckstall smith band, The experience performing with such talented musicians in that period had a profound affect on Kevin’s ideas and his approach to music and started focusing on writing his on unique style of music he started playing alto saxophone a lot and studying more African folklore music and drumming styles trips to the US Africa Cuba followed. Back from his travels Kevin went to the studios to record his first Album with a small French label called native music who went to see Kevin Perform his new music and band Kevin Haynes Grupo Elegua at the London Jazz cafe after the show the label were keen to record his band and the journey started from there. In 1997 Kevin Recorded his first Album Tomorrows Path with guest artist Clifford Javis a young Robert Michelle on Piano with guest pianist Alex Wilson, Larry Bartley on Double Bass and Nico Gomez Bass and two percussionist Lenny Lawrence and Trevor Kentish In 2002 Kevin Recorded Ori Ire on his Label Egbe Oduniyi Productions Musicians on the Album Kevin Haynes saxophone Bata drums vocals Narration Niles Halistones Roland Thomas Bata and Vocals Bill Bland Bata drums and Vocals Donald Gamble Bata drums and Vocals Benent Mclean Piano Neville Malcolm Double Bass David Givionini Drums and vocals Kevin Haynes grupo would tour the UK and perform at the some London Jazz cafe 606 Jazz club rich mix music events, Portobello Jazz festival and other london local Jazz events, In 2008 Kevin Haynes Grupo Elegua Records his third Album Ajo se po Unity on his label Egbe Oduniyi productions musicians on the album Kevin Haynes saxophone Bata drums vocals Johnathan Igibonya Piano Daibel Cissokho Kora and vocals Bass Neville Malcolm Bass Shane Forbs Drums Lanre okemuyiwa Narration backing vocals Ilam Jalal Backing vocals Paula Allen 2011 Kevin Haynes was invited to perform in the Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba by the great Cuban Jazz pianist Chucho Valdes. Kevin Performs with the young group Cuban talented jazz musicians to perform the music of Grupo Elegua The Cuban audience and the Jazz community where full of compliments of the music and Kevin was nicked named the African Charlie Parker because of has that old sound he gets on the horn Current activities 2014 -18 over the last few years sees Kevin Haynes grupo Elegua performing at the London Jazz festival, Rich Mix music events, Spain Salmanca Jazz Fesitval, Havana Jazz festival .Portobello Jazz festival, Jazzre-freshed Mau Mau Bar Jazz nights The 600 Jazz Club, May 2018 Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club Performing with the Moses Boyd band promoting his new album displaced diasprora .
