Me

I've always loved music, started out on the piano and eventually found myself singing when I became a teenager (as shy as I was). Then it was time for college, and I decided it was the right thing for me to stick with music for the rest of my life. I've been singing in bands, on my own, writing songs, and recently even started working as a session vocalist. https://linktr.ee/katanarancic

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is my way of escaping the world, but also my way of staying connected to it.

What is your music dream?

I want to be proud of what I created, in the end.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Stopping hate between people would be a good start.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

I think 'In My Life'. I heard it on the 1994 Lassie movie (which I watched too many times as a kid) and it stuck with me way before I even knew who The Beatles were.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Right now Pomme and Fenne Lily. They write how I'd like to write.

What inspires you to make music?

Other music.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Well, I mostly write love songs, so I guess things I didn't get to say to people to their face. And with the other songs, hope. Many songs have helped me keep going, so I hope mine can do that for others.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I love that I feel like my voice can really reach them deep, deep down. And I like being onstage with my friends, having a good time.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I think we have a lot of opportunities to live from what we love, although it's hard work. We just have to let the younger ones know that being a music teacher in their old high school isn't the only career option for them.

What do you think of Drooble?

I still haven't explored it a lot, but it seems like a very good idea.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Getting stuck.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Not really, sadly. I was planning on starting to go to underground shows more, and then a global pandemic started.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Honesty and drive.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

I'll owe you this one.
