Johnny Ray Gable

Story

A young boy from the central valley, presumptuous as usual, digging through dad's old 8-track tapes and records, decided that one day he could reach for the Stars and make Rock and Roll music. The years have not been easy on this guy, becoming overwhelmed at every attempt at furthering his music career. It has been too many years passed and nothing much to show for it, so far. A failed attempt is nothing more than a second chance to do it differently, changing how it is done. From here on out, I can only go forward.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is the language that speaks beyond what ears can hear. Nobody can explain it, it's a way for an introvert, like myself, to express myself to people without having to speak to them.

What is your music dream?

I want to make a career in music, at this point, it's a regardless factor. I am looking at ways to promote my music by also creating my own record label.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Peace.....plain and simple. Why people are always arguing, especially with the invention of social media, they always argue over trivial matters. I want to fix this.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Runaway by Del Shannon

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Del Shannon Buddy Holly Ritchie Valens Roy Orbison Neil Sedaka Dion DiMucci

What inspires you to make music?

Rock and Roll (1950's); Despite the almost non-existent sounds being played on the radio, I feel that Rock and Roll isn't dead and needs to make a come back.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Rock And Roll never dies

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Nervous, at first

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Everything! Today, it's not about the music, it's about the image. Most artists today aren't talented, they just look good in front of a camera, and that's supposed to be a 2-way street.

What do you think of Drooble?

I personally think it's a great tool, for the earliest of beginner to the most professional artist. It's a great way to connect with like minded people involved with music.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The countless hours and days, even years, spent trying to get a solid Music foundation, and establish a fan base.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Unfortunately I don't get out much anymore, plus I live in such a small town that live music doesn't happen around here often.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Most important, humility. Regardless of years in the business, every music artist must be humble enough to realize at the end of the day, they're only human.
