Story

I'm Dimitar Todorov a.k.a. Drekavac, 26 years old from Kavala, Greece. I remember myself, while I raised in a house full of metalheads. My inspiration about this musical genre came from the darkest and deepest elements of the musical matter and elemental notes, thus this mood I am, while there is rain and the gloomy overcast weather fits well to an inspiration like this, to create music like this...

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is passion; a way of life to live, to create, the air I breathe, the way I express myself as a living human being.

What is your music dream?

My music dream is to play gigs in front of a huge crowd cheering and screaming and singing the music I created...I think that this is every musician's dream and goal.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I dunno, just Trump stop exists.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

'Dusk...and Her Embrace', by Cradle of Filth. The vocals, the intro, the guitar riffs...everything!

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Well, I don't have just one favourite band, so I'll count them alphabetically, and they are: Alcest, Arcturus, Be'lakor, Borknagar, Children Of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Drudkh, Ensiferum, Enslaved, Finntroll, Gojira, Hypocrisy, Immortal, Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Vindland, Windir, Wintersun and many more, they're just too many...

What inspires you to make music?

The heavy tunes and tones, the sound of the well-tuned electric guitar, the thick bass tone, the well-fit toms, the perfect snare sound and all the vortex mixed together for an absolute eargasm, ha!

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Well, my debut album 'Deadly Nature', is about how sometimes the Mother Nature herself is killing us, the people. Yes, unfortunately, we, as human beings 'kill' nature and destroy the environment, BUT what's happening when is the nature killing us, the people? Killing us with its natural disasters, such as earthquakes, tsunami, volcanos, thunders, etc. Don't get me wrong, I even recycling my trash at home, so there's no negative message, I just was sceptical how this album what I chose will affect the audience, makes people think about the opposite of 'good' when the 'good' kill us...or?

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I'm a very, very, very, very...VERY shy guy. But on stage, everything disappears, no shame, no awkwardness, just me, performing my music to the people and I'm seeing when they actually like the music I created and they cheer. I'm satisfied when my fans are satisfied.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

It has been improved so well comparing the past back in the days a decade ago. The internet has evolved in our lives for ourselves. The internet is an astonishing tool that can help many bands to release their music to the audience with the easiest way that could any imagined.

What do you think of Drooble?

It's an awesome website that helps the musician around the world to communicate with each other, express ideas, or even find musicians to become members of their bands. I really like the website and I'm glad that I discovered it...and once again, thank you, internet!

What frustrates you most as a musician?

As I previously mentioned that the internet is an amazing tool, many people copying or stealing others' music and upload it without any permission of the creator of this music. Guys and girls, even me, as a musician, I don't download torrents, I KNOW how the struggle is real, but one song costs less than your coffee. A demo album costs less than your pumpkin spice caramello mocha late frappuccino affogato and...whatever you drink on Starbucks. One song on iTunes usually costs under a dollar! Support musician and buy their music, 'cause it costs less than your coffee.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

YES! Absolutely. I'm supporting my friends' bands and sharing their music on social media and even buy their material on Bandcamp and I am a real fan of their stuff.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

If you wanna make money from your music, you have to promote yourself. To advertise yourself. Every music video you upload, it must be promoted to be created as a YouTube ad. For example, take a look at how fast Grimaze became so popular, 'cause their music is awesome! You have to pay to be paid.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Well, in late 2016, I created the one-man-band 'Mold of Tree'. One man, that plays all the instruments, such as guitar, bass, drums and synths, just like Burzum, Saor, Windir, Gallowbraid, etc. I was making Instrumental Black Metal. In January 2018, a second member entered and Mold of Tree became a duo. Six months later, the second member, as a guitarist quit the band due to personal decisions, even unknown for me, so anyways, the band is hiatus since July 2018, and that's why I created this album, a solo artist...bus still plays all the instruments. Mold of Tree will continue when I find the members of the band to continue this dark journey of creating Black Metal, so we separated due to dismembering and I don't know why Alex (the guitarist, I was the drummer) quit...we're still talking, there's no bad blood here, so anyway, here's a link of Mold of Tree's Bandcamp account: https://moldoftree.bandcamp.com/
