Jerry Herrera

I'm retired from the upholstery industry and now discovering my musical abilities and song writing that have always been on the back burner for many years making a living at my day job. :) I seem to lean toward southern rock, blues and some latin, jazz with the Gospel message. My hope, goal is to write songs that uplift and touch hearts with hope and inspiration. God Bless! Jerry Herrera

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is my outlet to express my thoughts and talents in songwriting and challenges me not to be afraid to be creative with the gifts imparted to me by the creator of life Jesus Christ.

What is your music dream?

To write a song that the whole world can sing along to.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Myself

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Mom and Dad Waltz: by "Lefty Frizzell"

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Hank Williams Sr. Les Paul and Mary Ford, Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery and many more to mention.

What inspires you to make music?

Whenever an idea pops up in my mind, or a certain riff, or chord progression? Hard to say.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

A message in the song that reminds us that life is short as we are all vulnerable, no guarantees of tomorrow and what kind of contribution have I/we made to help someone less fortunate than ourselves, an encouraging word, looking beyond others faults and meeting their needs.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Not too bad in a band, but solo would be hard as I don't see myself as a front man nor extraordinary.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Being raised from the 40's I don't relate to some of today's music because it seems to send a Godless angry frustrated and rebellious message with vulgar sensual imagery and Occultic ideology , mainly, Hard Metal Rock, Hip Hop and Pop music. I don't really think it will change for the good.

What do you think of Drooble?

I'm new here and don't really have an opinion thus far.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Breaking a string in the middle of a lead solo... ?

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Not sure about the question.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

They should believe in their musical talents, have a positive attitude, some humor, spontaneous, have a good amount of unbiased knowledge of the world around them, History, Politic's, Bible etc. and dig deep into your soul what is important to you and want to say, and make it believeable to your audience.
