Jason Flinter

Story

Started out with the usual school bands, moved into professional scoring for film, TV (BBC, NatGeo, Discovery, TLC, Granda) and corporates with a film soundtrack album signed to a label. Co-wrote a musical called 'Spirit of the drum' with Simon Carver in 2006 which premiered in my home town at Bristol Colston Hall. From that I honed my songwriting skills which led to winning the UK Songwriting competition in 2011 with co-writers, Jackie Spindley and Charlie Hodson. That led to a lot more collaborations and being a great position to start writing and producing for mailny south west artists and some further a field. Several albums and EPs now co-written and produced under my belt just waiting for the next exciting project to help another budding artist get to where they want to be.

When I'm asked to write by collaborators or get commissioned When some riff pops into my head and I've just got to get it down When an event overtakes my thoughts and I have to express my feelings When I can't communicate through conventional language

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

A musician's 'relaity' is whatever they want or need it to be. This question needs context. I'm guessing you're talking about money? De valuing? Free downloads? Being sued is the new way of earning? Over competition due to internet and home recording? No development by record companies? Decline in royalties due to legislation and free streaming? None of which stops my reality of picking up a guitar and playing a song when I feel like it...
