#JAILSONG is John Edward LaFave. What started as a humourous songwriter credit (another j.l.song) has became a unique artist moniker. Leaving John Edward LaFave the performing artist with a hashtag for a name.
I've loved music all my life. I started playing at the age of eleven. .. and haven't turned back. I think the power of music is the way it wraps itself around life and circumstances and defines the moment. Even years later, you hear the song and it brings you right back to the time when you first heard it, That's what it does for me personally.
I hope to connect with people through the music I've written and the work I do. Provoking thought and inspiration has always been my aim. Inspiring listeners to pursue music and art for themselves is my goal.
Promoting kindness, patience, creativity and tolerance would be a nice start.
The first song I remember that sparked my imagination even before I was into music was a song called "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by the Tokens. It had me dreaming of foreign lands and cultures. But the Beatles on Ed Sullivan February 9th, 1964, that's what hooked me forever.
That's a hard answer to give because it changes as things move on. But lifelong would have to include The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bruce Cockburn, U2, Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison, Jack White ..
All of the above.
Anything's possible. Live your life, don't waste it.
Performing is where you get back from, and connect with the people. There's a lot of effort an artist puts into what he or she does. But there's nothing like performing the give and take with the audience. It is the pay off.
The test for the musician and artist today (especially now in 2020) is staying motivated to do what you do. Life has a way of sorting out what is and what isn't essential for each of us. So if your artistry is essential to you, you'll find a way to pursue it. Improvement in my opinion, is the kind of thing being done here at Drooble. Together, appreciating the value of music in our lives should translate into our supporting and encouraging one another.
So far so good. I like the economy of how it works .. supporting one another is essential.
Sometimes I think it's the pressure to fit into what others are doing. To be an echo rather than a unique voice.
Yes. Several of the bands and artists in our local community (East Nashville.) work on promoting and supporting each other. Bands like .. The Mute Group, Floridian Slim, Cloudmouth, Nehoda, Fable Cry, Fetching Pails, Joshua Wolak, Crack Mammoth and more.
Perseverance.
I did in the above Local Support question .. The Mute Group, Floridian Slim, Cloudmouth, Nehoda, Fable Cry, Fetching Pails, Joshua Wolak, Crack Mammoth ..
