What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music for me is a Spiritual thing. Its a prayer, if you will, to the creator. It Gives me the chance to express my soul in a way that words cant. i can present who and what i am in the sounds that the flute makes and the emotion that it creates for listeners.

What is your music dream?

My music dream is honestly to be able to play enough to pay my bills so my wife does not have to work. To play enough that i feel i have done my part to keep the native american flute alive so others can hear it and maybe be inspired to pick it up and learn it so it goes on into the future without being forgotten.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

If i could change the world it would be to give it acceptance. Too many folks looking at other folks and saying " because you are not like me and dont think like me and dont pray like me you are not worth anything and i am going to treat you accordingly " i would love for the world to just adopt a " you do you and let me do me " mentality.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

For me the most memorable song from my childhood would have to be war pigs by sabbath. It came out two years before i was born but it is the song i can really remember as being the first song i was aware of :)

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

I have a ton of them. Everything from native artists like Rona Yellowrobe and jonah littlesunday to metal like slayer and cannibal corpse to new age music like enya and loreena mckennit. Way to many to list thats for sure

What inspires you to make music?

The desire to see the native american flute stay alive and for people to be able to experience it live and not have to resort to some dusty old recording from a museum or library to hear the sound of the flute.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

I think the message i would want to send is that its ok to be yourself. Express who you are with your music. Let it tell the world about your soul and your victories and your losses. Let music be the voice for the things you cant say with your words.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I feel free. I feel excited and a bit nervous because for me my music is a part of my spirit so when i am playing for people i am opening up my spirit to them and allowing them to hear it. It is a very vulnerable way to be but in my opinion vulnerable is honesty.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Some musicians in my opinion are catering to the concept of what people want and they dont put enough of their soul into the music they are making. They have technical skills but they dont bring the reality of who they are into it anymore. Not enough people writing about and peforming about their own experiences.

What do you think of Drooble?

This is a pretty neat platform. I am not that experienced with it. I have had this profile for a while and i just now saw that i could do this interview thing and that i can upload music to it LOL

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Trying to get my name out there through the jungle of pay as you go social media. I dont have a big problem with paying for it i just dont know quite how to navigate it so i can use it and the money i would be spending to the greatest advantage. I see people with bands and they have thousands of followers on social media and i am lost as to how they did it LOL

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Yes i support the local scene. I go to show and actually pay to get in even if i know the band personally. I buy cds and merch again even if i am friends with the band and as i am a street performer busker, i always drop a tip in the bucket when i see other performers busking.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

outside of the obvious things like musical skill, lyrical skill i would say one has to be computer and internet smart to get their music heard by a larger audience.
