I have been playing gigs since 1973 when I was in college. Went back to my home, Washington DC. I played and toured with bands from 1974 through 1995. I have been playing with bands on the Outer Banks for 22 years: ( Pop Quiz, Bodega, Corolla Allstars, SoulONE and Queen Anne Revenge). I'm looking to play as much as I can this summer. I use DW's with a Ludwig Sonic Snare, plus I also have a PA system. I can help with vocals plus I also play rhythm guitar. I have plenty of samples/demos. I can play gigs cold but I do enjoy rehearsing. I always try to be sensitive to the dynamic restrictions of the cubs that I play in. My job is to make you sound good. Don't be fooled by my age: I love the Kings of Leon, Lorde etc.. I can help with bookings in Corolla. Give me a call:252 202 2465 I am free to tour and do have a current passport. Gary Michael Smith
Well, I have been playing since I was a kid. I'm not happy when I'm not gigging. I love working with songwriters, . I married to Laurie Hyde Smith who wrote "Me & Willie" for Emmylou Harris
To keep playing. I would love to tour in Europe someday.
get rid of Trump. I always vote
Really not a fair question. When I was in the 6th grade, I remember all the kids on the bus with radios playing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles. I grew as a teenager listening DC AM radio. Beatles, Beach Boys, Birds. Then came FM radio and the choices of songs did radical change: "Purple Haze", "White Room", Zep. But playing in DC in the early '70s meant working with songwriters. IN 1974, I met Don Zientata, (Founder of Inner Era Recording Studio: HBO: Sonic Highway, Foo Fighter fame). Laurie Hyde Smith joined our band Ravenstone. Laurie went on to write "Me & Willie" for Emmylou Harris.
Don't go into shock...I love practicing to the Dobbie Brothers drum section. They use 2 drummers and a congo player. I listen too how well the song is mixed, recorded and produced as much as I listen to the artist's performance.
It's in my DNA
I want them to go on a journey
When a night goes well and the band really comes together, there is nothing like it.
I have been playing and performing for so long, I have learned one thing: Don't pass judgement on anyone. Styles, songs, what's cool at the moment always change.
My 1st day!
Not playing
I work with younger kids. The local charter school comes to me when they are having events and I'll set up my PA.
Clarity in what they want to say and play.
My wife, Laurie Hyde Smith. Great songwriter. google American Songwriting Magazine and include her name.
