Well, you know how there are tons of really talented musicians and bands out there who are stuck just playing cover songs because they lack either the ability, incentive or motivation to write their own songs? Well that's why I have compiled a playlist of lyrics which these artists can use to give them the boost they need to start making original music and, because I am only supplying the lyrics and not the genres or melodies, it doesn't matter if 50 (or more) artists use the same set of lyrics as the resulting songs will all still be completely different. Because I really want these bands and artists to have a fighting chance of achieving success in the music industry, something they are unlikely to gain if they are stuck playing songs which, even if performed better than the original artists, are still just covers and (especially from the point of view of someone such as myself who cannot play any instruments), that is such a waste of the time, talent and hard work which goes into becoming a great musician - so much so that I believe many take their abilities for granted and do not realise just how successful and amazing they could actually become if they were to step away from just performing cover songs. I have uploaded Ho! Ho! Ho! It's Christmas Time! though as that one has the instrumental break and is just waiting on my vocals being recorded properly since these were recorded on my latop using a cheap mic. Ouch! What a question! I suppose it gives me release and allows me to say what I think and feel in a way that is acceptable to society and friends and family which, when said in conversation, would probably spark an argument or get me institutionalised. Music allows you to say whatever you want and get away with it; it's probably when the human race is at its most honest ;)
Fame and fortune. Actually, just fortune is fine although it would be nice to leave a legacy for my children. I'm just not a very peopley person and people knowing who I am and trying to spark conversation is likely not good for my music career as I don't make a good first impression (though I do seem to grow on people, eventually).
Education. I think education could ease many of the world's problems. For example, a lot of conflict throughout history has been due to religion; education would hopefully spark understanding of other people's faiths and beliefs (or lack of) and therefore mutual respect. Mutual respect includes ethnicity, race, age, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I mean, wouldn't it be great if we could all just get along without prejudices holding us back? Also, education would hopefully help ease poverty around the world and therefore reduce crime (though it could make crime more sophisticated, I suppose but I was put on the spot with these questions)
Queen - The Show Must Go On. Unfortunately, when I was 11, my mum took an overdose and died (maybe suicide but I choose to believe a cry for help gone wrong). This was part of a mix tape of my mum's favourite songs that my uncle put together for family members and my dad played it a lot and I have a specific memory of my dad trying to explain to my sisters and I about how we had to keep going and using this song as a reference. I have few memories of my childhood as I think my brain tried to protect me from memories that would remind me of life before and therefore upset me but I do very much remember this moment.
The Offspring, Weezer, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, One Minute Silence, Green Day, Blur. After that, it's pretty eclectic and I like genres or individual songs rather than bands or artists.
I wrote a Christmas song about 10 years ago purely with the thought that most songs get famous, get into the charts and are massively successful but only for a relatively short time and I thought that if I wrote a Christmas song and it was successful then it would be played on every radio station and music channel at least once a day every day of December for the rest of my life and beyond, giving me a legacy and hopefully a bit of an income and something my children could be proud of. I never did anything with that song until last year when I did a very rough recording and it went down well so I thought I'd unleash some of the other stuff I have floating around in my brain. Music is so diverse that who knows what people might like? I know now that the chances of fame and fortune in the music industry are very unlikely and website like this where you can hear so many amazingly talented artists who have not found fame and likely never will really drives that point home but I'm hooked now and would love people to love my music. I'd love my kids to be listening to the radio one day and say to their friends "my dad wrote that"; maybe it's an ego thing lol. How dare you say I have an ego; don't you know who I am? :p

Nervous but not something that I have done very often, especially since many of my "songs" are still just lyrics at this point (since I cannot play any instruments myself; I came here to hopefully collaborate with actual musicians).
The reality is that many talented musicians will never get that big break so I suppose I'd like to see less "entitled" people. What I mean by that is that I am on a few songwriter groups on facebook and so many people are just spamming the pages with links to their music, thinking they are so special and deserve to be heard, but not actually clicking on any of the links that their fellow musicians are posting. Let's support each other.
Looks good so far and I love the charts as it gives me a playlist of music I likely would never have otherwise heard but, other than that, I only joined today so it's a bit early to have an opinion just yet.
Not being able to play instruments myself. Having to rely on paying other people to make music for me or rely on someone hearing my music and liking it enough to want to collaborate.
I live on a military base. There is a band on camp (or was until a couple of months ago) who I saw a few times but other than that, not really to be honest. Not exempting my local scene, I haven't been to see any band live since before I had kids as time and money always seem to go toward more "important" things these days.
Need to be truly amazing or a great showman. Simply beeing really good won't cut it these days unless you're really lucky.
