THIS IS NO PLEASURE CRUISE ... THIS IS ATLANTA'S OWN ... GALLEON!

Galleon is an Atlanta-based musical group which is making music great again! Comprised of Elliott & June Michaels, William Easterling, and now seeking other like-hearted and top-quality musicians in order to complete their sound, this electric outfit plays a variety of rock, folk-rock, and modern country music. They focus on playing tastefully melodic, well-crafted original songs but occasionally mix in choice eclectic cover tunes and perform it all with a very high level of professionalism and their own unique and special style. Thus, the band makes music that sails above and beyond all the rest! Galleon founder and skipper ELLIOTT MICHAELS (guitar, lead vocals, songwriting) is a seasoned veteran of the music scenes in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. The Brooklyn-born Michaels' impeccable vocal styling and right-on-the-mark songwriting are the foundation on which was built the Galleon! As for his guitar work, well ... Elliott's a terrific singer and don't you forget it! Galleon also features WILLIAM EASTERLING (synthesizer, organ, piano, harmony vocals, songwriting), a classically-trained musician with an eclectic pop sensibility who plays tastefully and doesn't overplay; and Elliott's lovely wife JUNE ELISE MICHAELS (hand percussion, background vocals, lyrics), a long-time new music devotee with lots of get-up-and-go. The spirit, enthusiasm, and professionalism of these musicians helps ensure smooth sailing for Galleon! The chemistry and camaraderie among musical partners William, June and Elliott is most evident in Galleon's cohesive and assertive sound, imposing stage presence, and commanding performance. The group has appeared often at Atlanta-area nightclubs and concert events, and they are now seeking other musicians (bass, drums, lead guitar, saxophone) to complete their sound as they look forward to playing their special brand of music throughout the Southeastern United States in the coming months. What is music to you? What does it give you?

Making great music is our life. We believe making great music is what the Good Lord put us on this earth to do.

What is your music dream?

We intend to become a major force in the fields of rock and modern country music. If that cannot happen, at least we would like to perform regularly in and around Atlanta and throughout the Southeastern United States, earning enough money doing so that we will no longer need any other form of employment.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

First of all, we would eradicate all childhood illnesses and injuries and make all children healthy and happy again. We all agree that childhood ailments are the work of Satan! Then we would get rid of all the guns in the world and teach people to settle their disputes in intelligent, constructive, productive, and peaceful ways.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

What Kind of Fool Am I? by Anthony Newley

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Barry Manilow meets Robin Trower! Blake Shelton meets Black Sabbath! The Captain & Tennille meet Captain Beyond! George Jones meets George Lynch! The Pussycat Dolls meet Faster Pussycat and the Love Dolls ... and let's not forget Doll Congress! The Stone Ponies meet the Rolling Stones! Human Drama meets the Human League and the Human Beinz! The Allman Brothers meet the Doobie Brothers and the Osmond Brothers! Are you catching our drift yet!?

What inspires you to make music?

God's calling and the opportunity to be somebody special in this world and to accomplish great things in our lifetime.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Be what you want to be, or be whatever you have to be in order to live the most enjoyable and rewarding life you can. "Be yourself" is utterly meaningless, as it is already accomplished. You already are yourself; you always have been and always will be yourself. But if you aren't happy with what is happening in your life, it's time to stop being yourself and start being something else, something different and better!

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Like true superstars, even though we are just another local band playing at a local club.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

There are too many bands and too many musicians, many of whom simply don't have much to offer; therefore, our value in this world has been greatly diminished. Musicians who are serious about their art and craft must be more diligent and conscientious in improving themselves and their work. They need to train and study and practice and work hard in order to develop and improve their skills and make themselves stronger and make their music more viable and valuable. They need to stop doing things the easy way and start doing things the right way ... the professional way!

What do you think of Drooble?

So far so good. We're hearing a lot of interesting new music here and learning about a wide variety of new artists, some of whom are excellent and others not so much ... yet. And we are glad to see that Drooble has been saved!

What frustrates you most as a musician?

We are not being taken seriously by fellow local musicians and music followers; otherwise how do you explain our inability to bring in a decent turnout!? We diligently promoted a booking in April 2019 and only seven people showed up to see and hear us! But in November 2021 we performed in Alpharetta, GA and drew a respectable 56 customers. So it's really inconsistent ... hit-and-miss!

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

We try to see and hear at least one local band every week other than our own, although with the recrent virus crisis that became very difficult.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

If we knew that, we would be out there every week making our great music and earning great money. We wouldn't be Atlanta's unknown supergroup, and we wouldn't be the best-kept secret in Georgia music today. But we do believe that anyone who makes it big, in music or in any other field, must have done something right somewhere along the way!

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Mid-70s Brooklyn pop-rockers Firefly; power-pop trio What-The; country/bluegrass band The Whiskey Gentry; country/pop singer Angela Reign; dark-rockers Scarlett; local Rush tribute band The Spirit of Rush; 80s cover band Denim Arcade; super-talented pop-rock quartet Exquisite Gender; country singer/songwriter Angela Easterling (who may or may not be related to our synthesizer player William Easterling); and let's not forget our good friend John Grant & his Guilty Bystanders in Tucson AZ! And most of all of course, Atlanta's unknown supergroup GALLEON!
