Dick Aven

Story

B I O Dick Aven is an eclectic, multi-instrumentalist artist based in Franklin, TN. He has developed a rather unique blend of sound by combining the honest, introspective vibes of folk music with the experimental edge of progressive rock. Dick Aven is not the kind of guy who likes to play by the rules. His music is all about defying convention and breaking the walls between various styles and ideas. Although his music is deeply connected to the earnest honesty of folk, Dick’s sound has a fascinating progressive streak that brings something truly unique to the table His recent release is a full-length album titled “One Of These Days We'll Go Get Us One”. The record is a journey through unique rhythmic ideas, textural landscapes and memorable melodies that transcend genre definitions and stylistic borders. A talented arranger, writer and vocalist, Dick appears on the album prominently, wearing different hats and showcasing his vast repertoire of musical skills and his highly eclectic taste. "The music has a very organic and Earthy feel, like folk rock. There’s a bohemian element to it all but as some of the songs build they become more “full” and often transition to a kind of groovin’ funk. I can’t stress enough how good this is. I love it when vocalists outperform the level that’s required for a genre of music, and that’s certainly the case here. He creatively extends notes and uses his voice in ways which ordinary artists would never have thought to do, and the songs are enhanced with personality as a result of this.." -Anastim Ducray via Stepkid “One Of These Days We’ll Go Get Us One” is a fantastic album with so many ideas! It will take you by surprise with its diverse attitude ad one-of-a-kind tones. It is an outstanding follow-up to 2017’s “The Fool I Am,” which also features 11 fantastic tracks highlighting Dick’s mercurial talent! --Andrew thebandcampdiaries.com "Not many people make albums that are right for every occasion. Albums that fit a range of moods as they flit across the dynamic range, hop the generic fences and offer a fluid journey through emotion and feelings. Albums like that really defy easy pigeon- holing and it is albums like this that I love. Why master one sound or style when you can explore and cross-pollinate many. It’s a reason to love Dick Aven’s record’s because that is exactly what he does." -Dave Franklin --- Dancing about Architecture https://open.spotify.com/album/4rDxiX5BGZ57aTAlxt4Jv8?si=qWYPM8LxQneqvabrNsdZ5w https://www.facebook.com/dickaven https://www.instagram.com/whistlingdick/?hl=en https://twitter.com/dick_aven https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuOp-oUcuIX-14fXA
