David Bruner

Davio

I want to write Christian songs. Doing it already. Trying to remain sincere. What does that mean? I play acoustic and electric guitar and some keyboards. Looking to start a band or be in one. Working on my assets to free up the time. No hurry. It's a process.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

the guitar is a vehicle to add a special aspect to life: syncopation and entertainment...there are a lot of good ones...guitar players are like snowflakes...each one is different.

What is your music dream?

I'd like to cut a couple of CDs. I don't think I want something really big like the Beatles', but I do consider my music as a part of my life.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Political bias...we can't seem to accept contrasting prevalent political views in this country....partisan politics has proven to be very destructive....people need to compromise.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

When my grandfather died in 1968, I remember the radio playing "A Fool on the Hill" by the Beatles. I think of that song often coupled with that event.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

the Beatles no shit. I also like Dire Straits and I'm beginning to like some of Fleetwood Mac which I used to blow off.

What inspires you to make music?

It just sounds so cool to do. When you add percussion, it's like really badass..I like turning my words into songs.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

spiritual..with God behind the process, you can't go wrong. Not that I'm perfect far from it.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I used to get the yips. I'm over that. I just try to go out there and have a good time. Often at open mics I opt to go first!

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

There's just so much talent and songs out there...it seems there needs to be more collaberation and less individualism....I'm the biggest culprit here!

What do you think of Drooble?

great...I just wish I could get more of my songs on Drooble radio....it has mostly to do though with my equipment and quality of my recording...I'm you know fledgling.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

having to do covers.....but I get the idea that you have to know where other artists are going. I wish also that I was more confident with my lead guitar potential and riffs.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

the Hudson River Cafe...just a bunch of louts trying to be somebody.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

make music to the audience...don't perform tricks and puppet acts...be real.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Cake. The Lost Radio Rounders.
