Story

Since my childhood, music has been somewhat my alter ego, my indistinguishable second self, for I started writing songs when I was 10 years old. I recorded all my compositions on reels/cassette tapes and bound all the lyrics in book form, making up 3 volumes, since 2002. During that time, I was able to write 1,652 songs. In 2006, I met Julia Clarete, who introduced me to the underground independent music scene. Whenever Julia had a gig, she usually invited all her friends thru text message – “Rakrakan Na Tayo!” and that stuck with me. It was during the Pulp Summer Slam of 2013 that I again decided to attend live gig shows taking pictures/ videos/ interviews. My father was so impressed and encouraged me to write songs again though it has been more than a decade since I last wrote a song. However, my flight to Tacloban City that day was cancelled and I was not able to fulfill my promise to perform my new composition on my fathers birthday 7th November 2013. My father did not survive the Yolanda surge the following day. I came back to Cebu from Tacloban City, with a heavy heart, 4 days after the great storm. I was able to write two songs for my father – ”Goodbye Papa” and “The Wrath Of Yolanda”. By January 2014, I wrote more songs and started performing as a solo artist.
