Dan Phoenix

Story

I wanted to play the piano before I even wanted to ride a bike, but my father didn't think it would be a good idea to waste my time with no guarantees of being any good, so I had to wait a very long time to buy my own piano and start learning. It's never too late. You only have to hit the target once. I have a podcast now that has nothing to do with music, but it's my main business, and I take some freelance jobs, also not in music, but I'm saving every penny I can get my hands on to buy more time and freedom to create the music I love.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is the little crazy place where I feel sane and have a purpose in life. So, to cut the philosophical bull****, it's everything; it's what I live for.

What is your music dream?

I dream of scoring a feature film one day.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I would introduce music and art into the core of every educational curriculum around the world.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Hotel California

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Luciano Pavarotti, Amy Winehouse, Scorpions

What inspires you to make music?

To tell stories that do not need translation to be felt and understood.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

There's no one message. If I can have someone listen to music, that is more than enough a message for me.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I wouldn't know how that feels because I have never done that before.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Get back some of the old sponsorship model that brought glorious music and art to the world, such as Mozart's and Beethoven's

What do you think of Drooble?

I really love Drooble. I haven't been here long, but I feel it's like home. Artists who meet artists and everybody is so nice and supportive. Let alone the features you have, which are insanely good.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Not having enough time to spend on my music while I have to spend most of my time trying to make ends meet, which is a noble thing, I know, but I wish I had more time to create music.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

No, because everything is so repetitive, and people keep creating replicas of hits, but very few artists, especially the famous ones are creative these days. It's all about the guaranteed money over musical adventures.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

A big social media following and a prolific portfolio.
