What is music to you? What does it give you?

Simply put, music has been my life. It’s certainly been something that I could turn to during difficult times to help me get through them.

What is your music dream?

I’ve played support to many big bands such as East 17, D-Ream, Let Loose, Eternal, Worlds Apart, Kenny Thomas and many others but I suppose being asked to support the likes of A-ha or Depeche Mode would be the ultimate compliment.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Abolishing false religion and corrupt politics

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Too Shy by Kajagoogoo instantly springs to mind but I truly loved Living a Boys Adventure Tale by a-ha. The production was something else.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, A-ha, Deacon Blue, Then Jericho, Paul Carrack, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Inxs, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, William Topley and many others.

What inspires you to make music?

Emotions and watching concerts

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Wouldn’t it be great to get back to the time when the music industry had real legends with longevity instead of here one year, gone the next.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Artist & audience is a reciprocal thing that grows & grows. The Artist is inspired by the audience to give a great performance and then the audience excitement grows and they both continue to bounce of each other. I love that.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

It’s a huge worry how the music industry has developed over the last 15 years or so but I do believe it’ll continue to improve. What could be improved? We need to eliminate these vocal tv shows and create artists with real longevity and encourage live bands.

What do you think of Drooble?

It’s a great concept that can help new artists make an impact on the music listening public, so I have to say it’s a great platform.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Traveling

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Absolutely, I can’t think of any better way to enjoy a relaxing night out other than listening to a local band, as long as it’s not an open mic night. Sorry but they take up nights in bars that would be of more use to young bands learning to tread the boards. The music scene will pay for it in a few years because the bands won’t be there to fill the theatres, because open mic nights hindered those young bands.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

They say a mother has many roles these days, a mother, a teacher, a disciplinarian, a cleaner, a psychologist, a provider and the list goes on. In a similar way, a modern day musician has to play multiple roles, a recording musician, producer, manager, social media expert, sales assistant, customer service, tour manager and again the list goes on.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

You may have heard of him but William Topley from The Blessing has quite a few solo albums featuring his awesome songwriting ability, not to mention his blues rich vocals.
