Christopher Gray

A Jazz Geek turned Audio pro

I started playing at nine. At twelve, turned in my acoustic for a Fender Lead II and started teaching myself by ear. At 13, switched to bass. The bigger gauge strings and fretboard didn't work for me so, I ripped the frets out of the neck and filled in the cracks with wood putty. After years of floating around playing in school jazz band and other local gigs, I started studying audio at 20. At 30, built my first home studio. At 40, studied advanced audio techniques at the Evergreen State College. Now...a few years older and wiser to the industry, I'm working as a freelance sound designer and engineer in the Central Coast region of California.
