What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is an integral part of my life. I come from a family with generations of musicians and music lovers. I was raised on a wide range of different musical influences. Music gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. It gives me peace when I need it. It gives me something to cling onto when the world seems crazy and wrong.

What is your music dream?

My dream is pretty simple. I want to slowly refine my own sound into something that is truly unique. I want people to be able to hear a tune I've created and feel that it is unlike anything that they've heard before. I've got a lot of things to try before I reach my dream, but I'm going for it even if it takes the rest of my life.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

More people buying from their local businesses, creators, etc. I won't go into my reasons here, but I feel that this is hugely important to the future of our species.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

The song that I heard as a child which has stuck with me throughout my life so far is Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I first heard it in the soundtrack for Dumb and Dumber and I didn't even know what it was called for at least the next 5 years. When I worked it out, it sent me on a listening binge that took me to some very interesting musical places.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Primus, Frank Zappa, The Birthday Party, Wu-Tang Clan, Dinosaur Junior, Neil Young, The Cure, Mastodon, Johnny Cash, A Tribe Called Quest... Do you need me to go deeper?

What inspires you to make music?

I don't feel any one particular source of inspiration. I just do it. It's kind of like an itch. I wake up, I wake some music. Sometimes an idea just pops into my head and i run with it.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

I prefer to keep this to myself. I feel that if you listen closely enough, you'll probably work it out.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

It has been a while but, nervous as hell. As a result, I've mostly made recorded music over the last few years. Sobriety has dramatically amplified my performance anxiety.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I feel that there's a glut of new music coming out every day and it's really hard to find music that truly makes me feel something. I want to see a radical shift in the way we discover new music. I think that, with some way of people truly filtering out music that won't ever be enjoyable for them, musicians would have an easier time connecting with fans who will LOVE what they are making.

What do you think of Drooble?

Too early to tell. Only been here for a couple of hours.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Trying to write about and/or categorise my own music.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I do. I buy music from local acts and (when I can) i go out to see local acts perform.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Beats me. I think the same qualities as always, but with a greater emphasis on Marketing skills in order to cut through the noise.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

I'll need a bigger text box...
