Antonio Bonifati

Story

I used to have a solar radio to listen to music while working in my land. But it broke down, so I began to sing and whistle, inventing my own tunes and lyrics. It took me 3 years just to become a minstrel! I did not know anything about music and instruments, yet I had beautiful songs on my mind. I've always wished to make songs with a meaning. Fewer and fewer songs like those are made today. For me music is only a decoration. Words are far more important.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is the reason for my life.

What is your music dream?

I dreamed of a wonderful music, but I was too tired to get up and record it until it was on my mind. So it has gone away forever.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I would destroy capitalism and return to natural farming and artistic craftsmanship of goods, boosting the local economies.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

"The Pink Panther theme", of course, by the great composer Henry Mancini.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

The Italian Fabrizio De André (RIP). I believe the all-time greatest storyteller.

What inspires you to make music?

It comes to me, especially if I am bored. There are some moments I feel an urge to create something new and beautiful. This need absorbs me completely. I even skip meals until I finish my song.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

I wish to say many things: nature is the greater good and man can not live happily if separated from true nature. We should return to populate the countryside, which is empty and leave these cities, which are overpopulated, dirty and full of thieves. Man technology may be useless and harmful and should certainly not be abused. Love counts more than money. True love is even rarer than diamonds. Friendship, family and moral values were completed destroyed by capitalism and the consumerism that drives it. Ambition is now the only fuel of all human efforts. But towards the end of life - when it is unfortunately too late - one realizes how void and unsatisfying this kind of modern life is.
